Why Did I Start Equiletix?
The positive impact my fitness has on my riding is phenomenal!
Growing up I competed in dressage and eventing, attended pony club and lessons, and loved horses and riding with all my heart.
What I wanted most was to become the best rider I could for my horse and to see progression and improvement in my performances, both in training and out at competitions.
But what held me back from progressing were issues with my position that would come up again and again. Whether it was a lack of bend to the left, an elbow that wouldn’t stay in, or wobbling in the sitting trot. It didn’t matter how much I rode, I kept reinforcing these patterns, and of course I couldn’t influence my horse effectively to see the true potential we had!
No matter how many times an instructor would tell me about my position, and I used all my willpower to try and improve, I kept blocking my own progress.
However, after studying Sports Science, Exercise and Health at university and beginning to strength train in the gym I saw huge improvements in my strength, flexibility and health. This was a time in my life where study and commitments made it hard for me to ride often.
Funnily enough, when I could finally get back in the saddle and start training again, my position, stability and stamina had improved out of sight!
If only I had know the positive benefits to my position, stability and effectiveness in the saddle, I would have started training years before I did.
Now it is my passion to empower riders to become fitter, stronger and more balanced so that they can become the best rider possible through the Equiletix program!
